  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

Protected Disclosure Policy and Procedures for Iarnród Éireann

Protected Disclosure Act

Introduction

Under the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 (the “2014 Act”) Iarnród Éireann has established a policy and procedures for making protected disclosures called “The Protected Disclosure Policy and Procedures”. The Protected Disclosure Policy and Procedures have regard to the Guidance issued by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform under section 21 (1) of the 2014 Act for the purposes of assisting public bodies in the performance of their functions under the Act.

The Protected Disclosure Policy and Procedures sets out the framework within the organisation for disclosing information of alleged wrongdoing, the roles and responsibilities of those operating the policy, the company’s response to any such reports and safeguards for those reporting reasonably held suspicions. Iarnród Éireann is committed to the highest possible standards of propriety, quality, honesty, openness, and accountability and to dealing with all allegations of fraud and other forms of wrongdoing reported. All instances of alleged fraud, or any other wrongdoing under this policy will be recorded and investigated.

*One item was raised initially as a protected disclosure and was referred to an independent investigator. It was advised to the individual that as the matter had not been processed through the company’s grievance procedures, it would be appropriate to use this process in the first instance, which the individual accepted.

During the year 2015, one Protected Disclosure report  was made to Iarnród Éireann, with three disclosures.

Actions arising

Protected Disclosure are investigated in accordance with the requirements of the Protected Disclosure Policy and Procedures. The worker who has made a Protected Disclosure has been communicated with outlining how Iarnród Éireann has dealt with the subject matter of the Protected Disclosure.
