Today's Irish Examiner sent three journalists from Cork city to the Spire in Dublin's O'Connell Street, one each by train, bus and car.
It was a good result for public transport overall.....
While there's no doubt the road network has improved in recent years, it's interesting to see that the city centre congestion is still a factor, even at what is comparatively an "off-peak" time.
Notwithstanding the "win" by rail, one of our key priorities is to improve journey times to ensure that the city centre to city centre time always gives a clear advantage, and we hope to be able to deliver some progress on that front when we publish draft Heuston schedules for 2013 in the coming weeks.
