Line Improvement Works - 20th to 25th November

Engineering works will take place across a number of routes on selected dates and the following services will be affected.

We advise customers to check their journey details prior to travelling. For full details of services available please check our journey planner or our PDF Timetables below.

Service arrangements

Customers are advised to check our Journey Planner before travelling.

Cork, Limerick and Tralee

Due to line improvement works service with some alterations will take place:

Monday 20th to Friday 24th November

  • 21:00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork will operate to Mallow only with a bus transfer in operation between Mallow and Cork

The following services will be substituted by bus transfers:

  • 22:00hrs Cork to Mallow
  • 23:00hrs Cork to Mallow
  • 22:30hrs Mallow to Cork

Saturday 25th November

  • Dublin and Cork services will operate every hour in each direction with altered timings, please check the journey planner or timetable PDF below for full details
  • Dublin and Limerick services will operate every hour, connecting to and from all Dublin and Cork services at Limerick Junction
  • Dublin and Tralee services will operate every 2 hours, connecting to and from Dublin and Cork services at Mallow
  • 17:05hrs Dublin to Tralee is cancelled. Passengers should board the 17:05hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork service and change at Mallow. Please note that there will be a delay of 25 - 30 mins from Mallow to Tralee
  • Nenagh Line customers, please change at Ballybrophy as normal for connecting services
  • 16:55hrs Limerick to Ballybrophy has been advanced to 16:35hrs

The following services will operate as bus transfers:

  • 16:30hrs Cork to Cobh
  • 20:00hrs Cork to Cobh
  • 21:00hrs Cork to Cobh
  • 22:30hrs Cork to Cobh
  • 17:00hrs Cobh to Cork
  • 20:30hrs Cobh to Cork
  • 21:30hrs Cobh to Cork
  • 23:00hrs Cobh to Cork

Friday 1st December

The following services will operate to and from Mallow only with bus transfers in operation between Mallow and Cork:

  • 17:00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork
  • 18:00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork
  • 19:00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork
  • 21:00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork
  • 19:20hrs Cork to Dublin Heuston
  • 20:20hrs Cork to Dublin Heuston
  • 18:45hrs Cork to Mallow will operate as bus transfer
  • 22:00 Cork to Mallow will operate as bus transfer
  • 23:00 Cork to Mallow will operate as bus transfer

The following services will operate to and from Banteer only with bus transfers in operation between Banteer and Cork:

  • 19:05hrs Tralee to Cork 
  • 20:55hrs Cork to Tralee

Saturday 2nd December 

All services between Dublin Heuston and Cork will operate to and from Mallow only with bus transfers in operation between Mallow and Cork.

Sunday 3rd December 

The following services will operate to and from Mallow only with bus transfers in operation between Mallow and Cork:

  • 08:20hrs Cork to Dublin Heuston
  • 10:20hrs Cork to Dublin Heuston( bus will operate to Charleville, serving Mallow)
  • 12:20hrs Cork to Dublin Heuston (bus will operate to Charleville, serving Mallow)
  • 13:20hrs Cork to Dublin Heuston 
  • 10:00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork (bus will operate from Charleville, serving Mallow)

Customers with mobility impairments travelling between Mallow and Cork from Friday 1st to Sunday please contact us in advance of travel so that we can make the required arrangements. 

Galway and Westport

Saturday 25th November

  • Dublin Heuston to Galway and Westport services will operate a full schedule as normal

Sunday 26th November

  • Dublin Heuston to Galway will operate as a bus transfer to Kildare

Saturday 2nd December

The following services will operate as a bus transfer between Dublin Heuston and Athlone then continue by train from Athlone to Galway/Westport:

  • 18:30hrs Dublin Heuston to Galway
  • 18:15hrs Dublin Heuston to Westport
  • 19:20hrs Dublin Heuston to Westport
  • 19:35hrs Dublin Heuston to Galway

Waterford

Saturday 25th November

  • Dublin Heuston to Waterford services will operate a full schedule as normal

Portlaoise and Kildare to Dublin Commuter services

Saturday 25th November

  • Portlaoise and Kildare to Dublin Commuter services will operate with altered timing, please check the Journey Planner or PDF timetable below

Catering

On affected services, a trolley service will be provided on all InterCity services. Dining car and restaurant car facilities will not be available.

First Class

On affected services, first class facilities will not be available.

How can I reserve a seat?

  • When you purchase an Adult, Child or Student ticket on this website or through our call centre (01 83 66 222) you are given an assigned seat as part of the price
  • Customers who are already in possession of or purchasing on the day of travel a valid standard class ticket(s) such as Family Tickets, Day Return, Open Return, Weekly, Monthly, Annual, InterRail and Free Travel pass holders can reserve a seat on a service for €5.00 per person each way
