Engineering Works: Hazelhatch to Sallins 24th and 25th March

Engineering works will take place across a number of routes on selected dates and the following services will be affected.

We advise customers to check their journey details prior to travelling. For a full list of the available services on your day of travel, please check our journey planner for your timetable query.

Service arrangements

Customers are advised to check our Journey Planner before travelling.

Due to essential engineering work between Newbridge and Sallins on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March and Easter weekend Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April, there will be disruption to a number of services. Bus Transfers will operate between Hazelhatch and Sallins and Newbridge and Kildare with some services deferred due to the engineering work. The following service alterations will apply:

Saturday 24th March, 2018

Cork
  • 20:25hrs Cork to Heuston will operate to Newbridge only, bus transfers Newbridge to Heuston
Dublin Heuston Commuters
  • 21:05hrs and 22:10hrs Heuston to Portlaoise will operate to Hazelhatch only, bus transfers from Hazelhatch to Newbridge, second train from Newbridge to Portlaoise
  • 23.10hrs Heuston to Kildare will operate to Hazelhatch only, bus transfers from Hazelhatch to Kildare
  • 21:25hrs Portlaoise to Heuston will operate to Newbridge only, bus transfers from Newbridge to Hazelhatch, second train from Hazelhatch/Heuston

Sunday 25th March, 2018

Cork
  • 10:45hrs Mallow to Cork will be deferred to 11:22hrs
Galway, Westport and Ballina
  • 08:00hrs Heuston to Galway will be bus transfers from Heuston to Kildare and train from Kildare to Galway
  • 09:40hrs Athlone to Westport will be deferred to 10:05hrs
  • 10:30hrs Ballina to Manulla Junction will be deferred to 10:50hrs
  • 11:05hrs Manulla Junction to Ballina will be deferred to 11:30hrs
  • 11:00hrs Galway to Heuston will be deferred to 11:35hrs
Limerick
  • 10:08hrs Limerick Junction to Ennis will be deferred to 10:51hrs, will operate to Limerick only, bus transfers from Limerick to Ennis;
Tralee
  • 08:30hrs Heuston to Tralee will be bus transfers from Heuston to Portlaoise, train from Portlaoise to Tralee
Waterford
  • 09:10hrs Heuston to Waterford will be deferred to 09:45hrs

Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April (Inclusive), 2018

Cork
  • All direct Cork services will be bus transfers to and from Newbridge, a train will then operate from Newbridge to Cork and Cork to Newbridge
  • 19:25hrs Cork to Dublin Heuston service is cancelled
  • Cork services will call additionally at Portarlington
Galway and Westport
  • Dublin Heuston to and From Galway and Westport will be bus transfers between Dublin Heuston and Kildate.
  • Galway and Westport services wil additionally call at Monasterevin
Heuston Commuter
  • Heuston Commuter services will operate to an hourly service between Heuston and Hazelhatch only
  • Grand Canal Dock services on Friday 30th March and Monday April 2nd are cancelled

Limerick
  • Select direct Limerick services will operate with bus transfers between Dublin Heuston and Newbridge
  • Select direct Limerick services will be cancelled
  • Limerick to Limerick Junction services will operate with some slight alterations
Tralee
  • Select direct Tralee services will operate with bus transfers between Dublin Heuston and Newbridge
  • Select direct Tralee services will be cancelled
  • Mallow to Tralee services wil loperate with some slight alterations
Waterford
  • All direct Waterford services will be bus transfers

Catering

On affected services, a trolley service will be provided on all InterCity services. Dining car and restaurant car facilities will not be available.

First Class

On affected services, first class facilities will not be available.

How can I reserve a seat?

  • When you purchase an Adult, Child or Student ticket on this website or through our call centre (01 83 66 222) you are given an assigned seat as part of the price
  • Customers who are already in possession of or purchasing on the day of travel a valid standard class ticket(s) such as Family Tickets, Day Return, Open Return, Weekly, Monthly, Annual, InterRail and Free Travel pass holders can reserve a seat on a service for €5.00 per person each way
