- North & East Region: Dublin (Connolly, Fairview, Pearse, Heuston Station, Inchicore) Drogheda, Bray, Kildare, Waterford
- South Region: Cork, Limerick and Limerick Junction
- West Region: Athlone, Galway and Claremorris.
Salary: €59k-€68K (Additional allowances applicable, also shift Salaries of up to €80k+ applicable for some roles dependent on training & experience)
Contract Hours: Average of 48-hours per week.
Contract Duration: Fixed Term leading to permanency
Annual Leave Entitlement: 20 days per annum, rising to 26 based on service. (Additional 5 days for Shift Electricians)
Training: Provide professional rail and safety specific training through our own training department and some specialised external providers, giving you the opportunity to build on your current skills and knowledge while attaining certification, qualifications and competence in specialist areas.

Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail is building for a future which will see the role of our rail services maximised in meeting the transport needs of the communities we serve, and the wider economy and environment. We are seeking applications for a number of qualified Electrical Craftworker roles to join us for this exciting phase of growth within the railway sector.
With major investment programmes in the maintenance, renewal and upgrading of our infrastructure, this is an exciting opportunity for electricians looking to progress a career in the railway industry and to help in the safe and efficient provision of railway services across the country.
Irish Rail are recruiting electricians across the (SE&T) Signalling, Electrification & Telecoms department:
- Signalling - Responsible for the maintenance of safety critical equipment ensuring it operates and is maintained effectively in compliance with our high safety standards
- Electrification – Exciting time to be at the ground level as our trackside electrified lines expand beyond the “DART” with the DART+ expansion
- Telecoms - Currently upgrading and expanding its fibre backbone and communication systems to ensure a high-capacity network infrastructure to meet the day to day demands of Irish Rail.
All candidates for the role should:
- Hold or be working towards a National Craft Certificate (Electrical) or equivalent to NFQ level 6 or higher
- Have good working knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and the Construction Industry Regulations
- Be able to demonstrate skills in installation and testing of electrical systems and sub systems
- Have experience working in a highly regulated environment
- Have experience of site work and an ability to work to a deadline under time constraints
- Be capable of working effectively within a team to achieve results
- Hold a full clean driver’s licence
- Have experience working in or knowledge of railway infrastructure would be an advantage
