Capital Investments are seeking suitably qualified candidates for the position of Permanent Way, Design and Construction, Network Enhancements. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team at a time of huge growth and investment.
The successful candidate will Assist the Senior Permanent Way Designer and Project Managers with the delivery of Capital Investment projects, including DART Expansion, to authorised budget, time, quality and scope targets.
Responsibilities
General
The range of duties include but are not limited to:
- Producing permanent way infrastructure designs in accordance with relevant technical and safety standards, production of associated drawings, stage planning of implementation of permanent way designs, technical & safety approval of permanent way designs and to support other project team members.
- Effective utilization of in-house and external resources.
- To provide advice and assist with the implementation of arrangements required by applicable industry standards, regulations and legislation.
- Implementation of Iarnród Éireann and Capital Investment Division Standards.
- To provide professional support in terms of design & implementation of projects undertaken by the Programme Manager(s), Network Enhancements
Key Qualities
Essential
- A Civil Engineering, Construction or related discipline third level qualification (Minimum Level 6)
- Demonstrable ability to produce permanent way infrastructure designs including track layout designs and horizontal & vertical alignment design.
- Demonstrable familiarity with track connections geometry i.e. Turnouts and crossovers.
- Minimum of 8 years railway infrastructure project design experience in relevant engineering environment.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience using AutoCAD to produce engineering drawings.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant experience of working to national / EU railway technical and safety standards.
- A full driving licence
- Availability to work occasional weekend and/or night shifts
Desirable
- Member of Engineers Ireland, Permanent Way Institute or other relevant professional body.
- Experience of using track alignment design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Rail Track / Bentley Open Rail Designer etc.
- A knowledge of B.I.M (Building Information modelling)
- Experience in the design of complex, multi-disciplinary heavy rail projects
- Experience in the production of general civil engineering drawings.
- A good working knowledge of railway infrastructure and systems.
- Experience in assisting the delivery of Railway Safety certification to national/EU regulations
- A good working knowledge of applicable National and European safety, planning and environmental legislation.
- Understanding of good Project Management Procedures.
- Knowledge of the Construction Regulations.
- Ability to assist in the production of tender documentation to include drawings, quantity extraction from drawings and technical specifications etc.
- Experience and knowledge of technical approvals processes for track and signalling.
