Customers are advised there is limited availability for seat only reservations online.

  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

Iarnród Éireann Infrastructure Manager’s (IM) Safety Department is looking for a Principal Safety Approvals Specialist to join our growing team.

Iarnród Éireann is embarking on an exciting phase of growth, with a programme of rail network expansion projects, under the National Development Plan. Such projects require approval to progress through project stages from the Infrastructure Manager’s (IM) Safety Approval Panel: the approvals body for changes to the Iarnród Éireann railway network infrastructure.

To support this period of railway development and expansion, IÉ Infrastructure Safety Department are looking to develop and expand their safety approvals team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior role within an expanding team at a time of huge growth and investment in the railway network.

Reporting directly to the Safety Approvals Manager IM the successful candidate will provide support to the Safety Approval Panel in the fulfilment of its responsibilities. The role will perform independent assessment of applications to the Safety Approval Panel and provide expert opinion to the applicant and the safety approval panel on matters such as the compliance of the application with the requirements of Safety Management System standards and railway safety and interoperability legislation

Essential requirements

  • Degree in engineering or equivalent technical qualifications, with experience in engineering or safety assurance in the railway industry, or other high reliability industry
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying EU and National railway, safety and interoperability legislation
  • Knowledge and experience of Project Management is desirable
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to strict timelines and strong delivery/execution focus
  • Report writing skills

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
