What is the East Coast Railway Infrastructure Protection Projects?
The East Coast Railway Infrastructure Protection Projects (ECRIPP) will deliver enhanced coastal protection to the existing railway infrastructure on the rail network between Dublin and Wicklow. The line is vulnerable to coastal erosion, coastal flooding, wave overtopping and cliff instability that is expected to increase both in frequency and severity in future years due to climate change effects.ECRIPP will deliver long term engineering solutions to proactively manage climate change effects in the form of wave overtopping, coastal flooding, erosion and cliff instability to this important rail infrastructure corridor. The project will consider how this line can be protected for future generations in the face of predicted climate change impacts.
