Extra summer Dublin to Belfast services from Thursday 8th June

02 June 2023

Additional trains will operate from Thursdays to Sundays to meet demand

Ahead of the busy summer season, Iarnród Éireann and Translink are set to introduce additional Enterprise services from Thursday 8th June in response to the record passenger numbers now choosing smarter train travel between Dublin and Belfast.

The new enhanced Enterprise timetable, following National Transport Authority approval, will see 14 extra services operating each week between Thursday and Sunday, providing around 3,000 additional seats making it even more convenient and attractive for people to travel on this popular cross border service.

The additional services, operating from 8 June until 3 September, will see the number of daily departures increase to 20 (Thursday to Saturday) - 10 in either direction, and 12 on Sundays (or 6 in each direction on Sundays).

Extra trains will operate as follows:

Thursdays to Saturdays

  • From Dublin Connolly to Belfast: 12:21hrs and 18:00hrs
  • From Belfast to Dublin Connolly: 09:33hrs (09:36hrs on Saturdays) and 21:06hrs

Sundays

  • From Dublin Connolly to Belfast: 13:00hrs
  • From Belfast to Dublin Connolly: 17:05hrs

Iarnród Éireann Chief Executive Jim Meade, said: "Iarnród Éireann and Translink are hugely ambitious to grow and develop the Enterprise service.  Our strong partnership means we can deliver this boost to summer frequency and capacity, and gives a preview of the extensive service expansion we plan to deliver in the future.”

Commenting on the increasing demand for the popular service, Chris Conway, Group Chief Executive at Translink, said: “We have been working closely with our service partners Iarnrod Eireann and this new timetable will ensure we continue to provide a high quality customer experience on this flagship service with the right capacity to meet the surge in demand and help keep everyone better connected.

“We recently celebrated carrying over 1 million passengers last year - the highest number in 20 years; this vital service has enabled people to do business trips, enjoy family days out, access concerts, sporting events and much more.  Now this increase in frequency will help even more passengers enjoy hassle-free, good value, cleaner and greener travel which is great news for everyone and great for the planet too.”

The additional services will offer a catering trolley service.
