Travelling by DART during COVID-19

DART Train Passing Aviva

Taking the train to the beach or the city on a lovely summer’s day has become a staple of life in Dublin over the years, however this year our services remain under strict Covid19 Public Health Restrictions. This means that only half of the number of people are permitted on board each carriage than would have been permitted pre Covid19.

We ask all customers using our services to respect the public health advice and as such if a train pulls in to the platform and appears to be more than 50% full, including sitting and standing room, then:

  • Please do not board that carriage
  • Move along the platform to see if there are carriages that are less full
  • If all carriages appear more than half full please wait on the next train

This may mean planning your trip so that you can allow for this possible additional wait time.

We would additionally like to remind customers to:

  • Wear a Face Covering in stations and on board trains unless you are medically exempt, it is a legal requirement for using public transport.
  • Practice good hand hygiene, hand sanitiser is available in all stations.
  • Show respect to fellow passengers, follow social distancing measures in stations and especially on board trains.
  • Respect our team when they advise you on these regulations; they are doing their job in trying to ensure everyone can travel safely.
  • Use a Leap Card where possible.
  • Be in possession of a valid ticket or Leap Card when travelling. The penalty for travelling without a valid ticket or Leap Card is €100.
  • Report anti-social behaviour if it occurs whilst travelling on our DART services; you can do so by texting the word TRAIN to 51444 followed by the carriage number located at the end of the carriage on the top right with any detail of the incident, including location.

The Iarnród Éireann team work closely with An Garda Síochana to ensure any anti-social behaviour is dealt with in a prompt and appropriate manner. Public Transport is for everyone and if we follow the public health advice we can all travel together safely.
