Customers who hold a Free Travel / DSFA Pass can book on their chosen service by selecting the 'Free Travel Pass' option in the Passenger selection box. Customers are advised there is limited availability for Free Travel bookings online.

  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

EU Obligation on Network Access

In accordance with EU Directives, interested parties wishing to gain access to the Iarnród Éireann network should in the first instance apply in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, Iarnród Éireann, Connolly Station, Amiens Street, Dublin 1. Applications for access will be processed in accordance with Statutory Instrument 55 of 2010.

Statutory Instrument 55 of 2010

In February 2010 the Minister for Transport published Statutory Instrument 55 of 2010 giving effect to EU Council Directive 2011/14 and subsequent amendments thereof. Under this Statutory Instrument any railway undertaking shall be granted access to the State's railway infrastructure for the purpose of operating international passenger services, international freight services, domestic freight services or international combined transport goods services. To apply for access, railway undertakings must meet safety and licensing requirements of Irish law.

Access Charging and Performance Regime

Railway undertakings may seek access to railway infrastructure as provided for in Statutory Instrument 55 of 2010. Iarnród Éireann will apply charges for using infrastructure as outlined in Section 16 of the statutory instrument and a performance scheme will apply to reward/penalise performance of the railway undertaking and infrastructure manager. Full details are outlined in Iarnród Éireann's Access Charging and Performance Regime report or can be obtained by contacting Iarnród Éireann at Connolly Station, Amiens Street, Dublin 1. The charges are valid for the timetable period December 2010 to December 2011.
