Day Tour to Connemara and Galway Bay

Our first call is at the Quiet Man Bridge, made famous by the movie of the same name, filmed here in the summer of 1951 and starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Next we call to Peacocke’s of Maam Cross - the ‘crossroads of Connemara’.

We continue down the Maam Valley and Joyce Country to the head of Ireland’s only fjord – Killary Harbour – and the village of Leenane, where we have a short stop. We continue along the shore of Killary Harbour to the stunning Kylemore Abbey and its Victorian Walled Gardens (admission included). This is also our lunch stop (NOT included).

Sky Road Galway

We now head through the Kylemore Pass and enjoy the magnificent seascape of the Wild Atlantic Way as we climb around the spectacular Sky Road - we stop here to enjoy the vistas. Clifden, ‘Connemara’s Capital’, is our next stop. Great shopping here and maybe time for a pint! The imposing Twelve Bens and Maam Turks mountain ranges are in evidence on our continuing journey through Connemara’s finest scenery – as well as myriads of beautiful lakes and hills populated by free-range sheep, cattle and Connemara ponies in their natural habitat.

We call again at Maam Cross before we bid farewell to Connemara and arrive in Galway, usually an hour before our return train to Dublin (with a snack car available) - departing at 19:20hrs and arriving at Dublin Heuston Station at 21:45hrs.

This tour is accompanied by a Railtours Ireland Host from start to finish, with reserved seats on the train.

This tour is discounted from €119 per person to €99 per person for departures on Tuesdays and Fridays and if booked directly with us by August 31st 2019.
