What are the conditions of travel?

Customers who are already in possession of or purchasing on the day of travel a valid standard class ticket(s) such as Family Ticket, Day Return, Open Return, Weekly, Monthly, Annual or InterRail ticket can book on their chosen service by selecting the 'Reservation Only' option in the Passenger selection box. Customers are advised there is limited availability for seat only bookings online.

What are the conditions of travel?

Customers who hold a Free Travel / DSFA Pass can book on their chosen service by selecting the 'Free Travel Pass' option in the Passenger selection box. Customers are advised there is limited availability for Free Travel bookings online.

Where can I buy this ticket? 

  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

Is an option for customers who are in possession of Free Travel Pass, a valid standard class ticket(s), seasonal ticket(s), Taxsaver ticket(s) or InterRail to book onto a train in standard class. Customers who have a valid standard class ticket but wish to upgrade to First Class should also use this selection. For more information go to Tickets Explained section.

Amending and Cancelling an Online Rail Ticket

Tickets can be amended and cancelled by the customer in line with the ticket rules applicable to them. See Online Tickets Terms and Conditions for more information.

All online tickets are only valid on service(s) booked. Amendments and cancellations can only be made prior to travel and where the ticket(s) have not been printed. Once a ticket has been printed, no further changes or amendments can be made to your reservation.

To cancel or amend your booking

On Desktop

  1. Log into 'My Account'
  2. Select 'Booking History' from the menu on the left
  3. Select the booking you wish to amend
  4. Choose from one of the available options applicable to the ticket or fare purchased at the top of the screen and following the steps on screen

On Mobile

  1. Log into 'My Account'
  2. Select 'Booking History' from the options on the 'My Account Home' page or using the hamburger menu located in the top right

  3. Select the booking you wish to amend
  4. Choose from one of the available options applicable to the ticket or fare purchased using the spanner symbol on the bottom right and following the steps on screen

Don't have an account?

If you don't have an account you can also access the booking through 'Manage My Booking' at the top of the page and selecting option one or two to log into your booking and following the same as step 4 above. 

Issues logging into Manage My Booking

If you are having issues logging in to amend or view your booking;

  1. Ensure you are entering the Booking Reference number when logging in to 'Manage My Booking'. Your booking reference number is 8 digits, generally beginning with 6, while your Ticket Collection Number contained in your email confirmation is 11 digits and used to collect your ticket from Ticket Vending Machines in stations. Example booking number: "65678978"
  2. Also ensure the email address provided is the one used when making the booking.

Unable to Amend or Cancel Online Booking

If you are unable to cancel your online ticket there could be a number of reasons as to why;

  1. Your ticket has already been printed, as per our Terms and Conditions you cannot amend or cancel a ticket once it has been printed
  2. You have a 'Low Fare' ticket, and are outside of the 48 hours booking window to amend or cancel your booking
  3. You have a 'Semi Flexible' ticket and are outside of the 24 hours booking window to amend or cancel your booking
  4. You have a 'Flexible' ticket and are outside of the 60 minute booking window to amend or cancel your booking
