Welcome to TRA 2024!
Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail welcomes delegates to the Transport Research Arena 2024, taking place in Dublin's RDS from Monday 15th to Thursday 18th April.
From capital investments to sustainability, from the infrastructure village to careers with Ireland's national rail company, and from a preview of our new DART+ fleet to panel discussions and presentations from Iarnród Éireann leaders, we have a full agenda throughout TRA 2024, for which we hope you can join us.
Where to find us?
- Our main corporate stand is stand 68 in the Irish Pavilion at the main RDS Arena, facing the Presentation Stage
- See the future of rail travel in the Greater Dublin Area: our mock-up prototype of the new DART+ Fleet is at Simmonscourt Pavilion, to the left of the main entrance
- Our Infrastructure Village, with a range of on-track machinery, sustainability exhibits, and colleagues from Train Operations, Capital Investment and Human Resources is in the Outdoor Demonstration Area, at the Simmonscourt Car Park
- Delegates have the opportunity for a Technical Tour of our new National Train Control Centre in Heuston Station. Advance registration essential, space limited.
- We have a range of speakers on stages at TRA 2024 throughout the week. More details below.
Full details of Iarnród Éireann at TRA 2024 are as follows.
Main arena
Visit us at stand 68 in the main RDS Arena. Our team will be available from 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs Monday to Wednesday, and 08:00hrs to 16:00hrs on Thursday, focusing on sustainability and innovation in Iarnród Éireann. We'll also be able to guide you to other Iarnród Éireann exhibits and speakers throughout TRA2024, and help arrange meetings with senior personnel on your preferred area of focus.
DART+ Fleet Mock-up Prototype
You won't want to miss our new DART+ train mock-up! Taking pride of place in the Simmonscourt Pavilion, left of the main delegate entrance, you'll get a glimpse of the future of rail travel on the expanded DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) network currently being developed.
The full-size mock-up will let you see the new customer features on-board, with improved accessibility, information, and space for families and bicycles. You can also fulfil that dream of sitting at the driver's controls, developed with input from driver colleagues and to ergonomic design.
You can learn even more about the DART+ Programme here.
Infrastructure Village
It will all be happening at the Infrastructure Village. Get up close to a range of rail maintenance plant and demonstrations like never before. Located in the Simmonscourt car park, we'll be joined by partners System 7 and Rhomberg Sersa to demonstrate our newest Ballast Regulator (see below), Linmag showcasing our Rail Milling Machine (see right), and Sperry Rail, a provider of RailHealth solutions globally.
Sustainability and more
The infrastructure village will also feature flashbutt-welding demonstrations, and a range of biodiversity and sustainability initiatives found around our network: bee-hives, bug hotels, bat and swift boxes.... and even honey produced on site at Iarnród Éireann's Inchicore Works!
There'll be meeting areas for networking and to learn more, and there's more to see and learn in the Infrastructure Village too....
Capital Investments
Our Capital Investments team, leading a record investment programme in our network and fleet, will be on site in the infrastructure village. Whatever project you want to learn more about, we'll be there to help. Our National Train Control Centre, DART+. Cork Area Commuter Rail, regional city projects, Rosslare Europort and new fleet are all encompassed in the record investment programme under the National Development Plan.
Our People - Customers and Careers
Also at the Village, meet our Train Operations team, focusing on Customer Experience, and our Talent Management and Recruitment team. If this is a time for a change in career for you, we'd love to discuss the wealth of opportunities to build a career with us. As one of Ireland's leading employers, you can be part of building a more sustainable future for the country.
