In addition to the terms below, your use of the Iarnród Éireann online booking is subject to the Terms and Conditions of use applicable to this website. By using the Iarnród Éireann online booking service, you are agreeing, and you are signifying your agreement, to be bound by the terms below and the said Terms and Conditions of Use.
 

Changes and Cancellations Rules

By using this website or call centre booking service, Medium Flexible, Fully Flexible and First Class tickets can be amended and cancelled subject to the ticket and fare rules applicable. These ticket rules are presented to you when you select any of the available ticket(s) for your desired journey. The conditions for each ticket type are listed below - 

Low Flex - Your ticket is valid on your selected service only. No changes or refunds are permitted.

Semi Flexible - Cancellations or amendments are permitted up to 24 hours before departure, subject to a 20% fee, but cannot be made on tickets already printed. Without changing your booking, you can travel on the train before or after your booking, subject to availability. Please note that your seat reservation will not be valid on other services unless amended prior to travel.

Flexible - Cancellations or amendments are allowed up to 90 minutes before departure, but cannot be made on tickets already printed. On the day of travel, without changing your booking, you can travel on all services on this route, subject to availability. Please note that your seat reservation will not be valid on other services unless amended prior to travel.

First Class - Cancellations or amendments are allowed up to 90 minutes before departure, but cannot be made on tickets already printed. On the day of travel, without changing your booking, you can travel on all services on this route, subject to availability. Please note that your seat reservation will not be valid on other services unless amended online.

Failure to produce a valid ticket, appropriate ID or surcharge where necessary will result in a fine of €100 together with the relevant unpaid fare. Any ticket which has become defaced, illegible, mutilated, torn, split, lost, mislaid or stolen will not be valid for travel, replaced or eligible for refund. Customers must purchase a new ticket to travel.

Ticket Collection

Tickets must be collected before boarding from a ticket machine at any Iarnród Éireann station. Go to our Ticket Collection Information page for more information.

Bicycle Accommodation

  • Where bicycle accommodation is available, the maximum size that can be carried is up to 1.8 meters in length and up to 0.865m in width.
  • When you purchase a wheelchair reservation, you will be presented with information in your booking confirmation email to help plan your journey.

Bye-laws and Conditions of Carriage
