  • You can purchase the ticket above using our Journey Planner. Tickets can only be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
  • An allocation of bookings on all InterCity services can be reserved online without a fee for 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders'. When this allocation is fully booked, all remaining seats can be reserved by 'Free Travel Pass or valid ticket holders' for €2.50 per journey.

Due to Engineering works between Athlone and Ballinasloe on Friday, 20th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September 2024, the following service alterations and amendments will take place:

•    22:25 Galway to Athlone will be substituted by bus transfer direct from Galway to Athlone, a second bus transfer from Galway to Athenry, Ballinasloe and Athlone and a third bus transfer from Galway to Oranmore, Athenry, Ballinasloe and Athlone.

  • 07:30 Athlone to Galway will be bus transfers direct from Athlone to Ballinasloe, train departing at 08:00 from Ballinasloe to Galway
  • 07:35 Heuston to Galway will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers direct from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 09:40 from Ballinasloe to Galway and will not serve Woodlawn
  • 09:25 Heuston to Galway will operate to Athlone only, bus transfers direct from Athlone to Ballinasloe, second train departing at 11:20 from Ballinasloe to Galway
