Position: Ecologist Executive for the Infrastructure Manager’s Department
Location: Inchicore, Dublin 8
Remote Working: Available after 12 months as per Remote Working policy.
Salary: €63k-€77K (10-year scale)
Contract Hours: 36-hour per week.
Contract Duration: Fixed Term leading to permanency.
Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days per annum, rising to 28 based on service.

Iarnród Eireann, Irish Rail are now recruiting for an Ecologist Executive for Chief Civil Engineer’s (CCE) Environment Department. The CCE Environment Department has legal environmental and biodiversity compliance obligations relating to management of railway maintenance and protection of the natural environment within and adjacent to railway corridors.
The role of the Ecologist Executive is to provide specialist support in relation to ecological and biodiversity management procedures, ensuring legal compliance and that all statutory reporting requirements are adhered to.

We are in a period of major investment programmes in the maintenance, renewal and upgrading of our infrastructure, as well as the transformation of our fleet. This is an exciting opportunity to join our ‘One Team’ to help in the safe and efficient provision of railway services.
Essential Requirements
- A level 8 degree in ecology, environmental biology, environmental science or related field
- Minimum 5 years post graduate work experience
- Full member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent
- Full clean driving licence
- Experience in development of biodiversity and ecological management plans
- Experience in monitoring maintenance projects and ensuring implementation of ecological mitigation measures
- Experience in carrying out onsite ecological surveys
Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation relating to infrastructural development
