Project Accountant, Chief Mechanical Engineers Department
Location: Dublin
Iarnród Éireann invites applications for the role of Project Accountant within our Chief Mechanical Engineers (CME) Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the financial management of a critical operational business unit.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, CME, and collaborating closely with the Head of Projects and CME Projects Team, you will:
- Manage budgetary control and financial planning
- Prepare periodic financial reports
- Support project controls and contract management
- Drive both operational and strategic financial initiatives
Essential Criteria:
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven experience in project accounting
- Ability to analyse large data sets effectively
- Skilled at managing competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying improvements
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office suite
- Experience in forecasting and collaborative team environments, including non-finance stakeholders
Desirable
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
- Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver accurate and timely financial reporting
- Strong sense of initiative, integrity, and responsibility
- Solid experience in financial control within a complex organisation
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems
- Track record of successful project accounting and deliverable tracking
