Salary: Executive D €67491.63 - €78,688.51(6-year scale)
Applications are invited for the position of Data Analyst within the Chief Information’s Officer’s Dept. This role will report into the Head of Data Analytics and Intelligence.
As a data analyst you will play a key role in delivering Iarnród Éireann’s data strategy, which aims to transform the vast amounts of data collected across the company into a shared asset that informs better decisions at every level in the organisation. The data analyst will work with the other members of the IÉ Data Analytics and Intelligence (DAI) Team, to design, build and maintain analytics products which provide actionable insights to decision makers across the company
Key Responsibilities:
- Acquire and analyse data from a wide range of sources, for the purpose of delivering actionable insights to inform strategic and operational decision making at every level across IÉ
- Design, deliver, document, and maintain, user friendly Power BI dashboards and reports, in consultation with business users across the company
- Be a champion for improved data literacy, providing advice and training in the usage and interpretation of data to our business users
- Contribute towards data cataloguing initiatives to develop a comprehensive central repository of data documentation
- Contribute towards the development of BI governance and design guidelines; and deliver and document all BI Infrastructure in accordance with these guidelines
- Support the Head of Data Analytics and Intelligence in developing, communicating, and implementing the IÉ data governance framework
- Incrementally improve data quality and reliability by working closely with data governance stakeholders to identify incomplete, inaccurate, and non-compliant data in our data sets
- Continually research new methods and technologies in the insights and analytics space

Essential Qualifications
- Level 8 qualification or higher in computer science, mathematics, data analytics or equivalent
- Familiarity with data analytics tools such as Python, R and Power BI
- 3+ years’ experience in analytics, business intelligence, data processing, or similar role
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Cloud Tools
- Microsoft certification such as AZ-900, PL-300 or DP-600
- Familiarity with data visualisation and user experience best practice
- Experience delivering tested and documented data products in an agile environment
Competencies
- Technical – Advanced Power BI; Proficient in Python / R; Familiar with cloud data platforms (Hands-on experience with Azure preferable)
- Analytical – Strong mathematical capabilities; ability to understand complex systems and processes
- Communication – Excellent presentation skills; an ability to identify what is important; attention to detail
- Managing Relationships – Experience identifying and satisfying stakeholder requirements; ability to work in a team to achieve common goals.
