Join our Chief Mechanical Engineer team and take ownership of the technical management, safety, and performance of fuel storage and distribution systems across multiple strategic locations nationwide. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex refurbishment projects from design through to implementation, oversee maintenance programmes, and ensure compliance with the highest industry and safety standards.

You will work closely with contractors and key external stakeholders, managing performance, budgets, and regulatory relationships while driving continuous improvement across all fuel installations. With significant responsibility for health and safety and a broad operational scope, this is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong professional to make a tangible impact in a high-risk, multi-site environment.

We are seeking a highly skilled Fuel Supply Chain Technical Engineer to take ownership of fuel infrastructure across our national network. The successful candidate will be based primarily in Inchicore, and the role will require travel across the network.

This is a critical position within the Chief Mechanical Engineer’s function, responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fuel operations at key rail depots and facilities nationwide.

Interested candidates must demonstrate the below 

Essential Criteria:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, design or construction of facilities for the handling, transportation and storage of petroleum fuels, biofuels or bulk chemical liquids
  • At least 5 years’ relevant professional experience in large scale site management and commissioning projects
  • Significant experience and responsibility for health & safety on large scale projects
  • Significant experience of contract/contractor management
  • Technical ability & understanding of technical standards specifically associated with the petroleum fuel industry
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Proficiency in the evaluation and presentation of statistics on Safety focus and knowledge
  • People management skills
  • Experience of managing engineering change
  • Candidates will be required to hold an engineering degree or equivalent level of engineering experience


Desirable:

  • Proven track record and in-dept understanding of the oil industry both at national and international level
  • Experience of compiling and prioritising plans
  • Experience of compiling and managing budgets
  • Knowledge of maintenance tracking software
