• I can't make an online booking past 13th of December

  Services are currently blocked for online sale from 13th December onward. The timetable is valid until 12th December.    

  Please check back in the next week or two. You should then be able to book online for your travel dates.

• What is a Young Adult Card?

  A Young Adult card is a TFI Leap Card that can be used to pay for travel by anyone who is 19 to 25 years old, up to their 26th birthday. The user’s name and photograph is printed on it

• How does Capping work?

  The system adds up how much travel credit you have used on public transport for a given day/week. Once the applicable Cap value is reached, no more fares will be deducted from your Leap Card. You can still use public transport as normal.

• How do I request CCTV footage?

  If your request relates to criminal activity please report it to An Garda Síochána. They will liaise with Iarnród Éireann to access CCTV.

  If you request relates to CCTV of your own personal images, please contact dpo@irishrail.ie with your request. We will do our best to assist you.

• What happens if I am involved in a car incident while using a GoCar on Iarnród Éireann property or at any other location?

  Should you be in an accident while in a GoCar firstly please call the Gardai. Then when everything has been reported please call them through the in car console or on 01 844 1969 to report the incident. If necessary they will send out a representative to the scene.

• Why are we introducing a Quieter Coach?

  Following feedback through our Disability User Group from customers with a disability, particularly those customers with Autism, Asperger’s, Brain injuries, Alzheimer’s and Dementia, a Quieter coach was requested to offer an enhanced experience when travelling on Mark IV, Iarnród Éireann intercity services.

• Will 3D Secure add extra time to my purchasing experience?

  It can add a few seconds to the normal transaction time. We view this as a small price to pay for more customer security.

• What does Low, Medium Flex, Flexible or First Class mean?

  To read more about our fare types see our Online Tickets and Fares section. Ticket types are Low, Medium Flex, Flexible or First class.

• What are examples of an emergency (when I should call 999 or 112)?

  An emergency includes, but is not limited to:

  Someone’s life is at risk;
  There is a crime happening now;
  Someone is hurt or in danger of being hurt;
  You need an ambulance;
  There is a fire.

  For all safety related incidents or emergencies, call  999 or 112.

• Will the DART be stopped if someone reports anti-social behaviour via the text service?

  No. DARTs do not normally stop due to reports of anti-social behaviour.

  In emergencies, we use standard protocols to keep people safe. A number of DARTs may stop in this case.
