How to book a ticket for a Wheelchair Users:
Step 1 - Enter your origin and destination in the 'From' and 'To' fields. Select a 'Single' or 'Return' ticket. Choose your date(s). Select the type and number of passengers for the journey E.g. 2 Adults, 1 Student.
Step 2 - To book a ticket for a Wheelchair user click the ‘Wheelchair users’ option beside the passenger options. A pop-up will appear on your screen. Tick each passenger that requires a 'Wheelchair space'. Select which passenger(s) require a Wheelchair space. If the wheelchair user has a Free Travel Pass they must also select the ‘Seat only reservation’ (beside the ‘Wheelchair user’ option). Do this for each passenger(s) that requires this option. Once you have filled out the required fields click 'Go'. You will see a full list of available services and the total price for all passengers. This will include the price of any seat only reservation selected.
Step 3 - Choose the service(s) you wish to travel on. Click 'Book Tickets'. If you are looking for further information like intermediate stations and catering, click 'Trip details'.
Step 4- Select Seats. If travelling with a wheelchair user, you must choose 'Manual Seat Selection'. You will see which carriages have wheelchair space. This will be represented by a wheelchair symbol under the carriage name. You will also see the symbol in the carriage itself. Click on it to select it.
Step 5 - Log in. If you have an Irish Rail account, enter your email address and password. Select 'Login'. If you don’t have an account you can continue as a Guest.
Step 6 - Passenger Details. Enter name(s). If you don't have an account you can register for an online account. Do this by ticking 'Yes, I wish to create an Iarnród Éireann account' under 'Customer details'. This is optional. If you don't want to create an Iarnród Éireann account, continue as a guest.
Step 7 - Payment Overview. Enter your card details, read and agree to the terms and conditions then click 'Pay Now'.
Step 8 - 3D Secure. You may then be brought to a WorldPay 3D Secure section. 3D Secure is an added layer of security for online credit/debit card transactions provided by your bank. It adds adds a password to your online payments. Banks do not always require this. They will ask you for your secure password or some other information only you should know. If you are not registered for 3D secure you will be presented with an option to set it up if your bank allows it. Once you have completed this successfully, click 'Continue'
Step 9 - Confirmation. Make sure to write down your 'Ticket Collection Number' and keep it safe in order to collect your tickets. You will also receive an email confirmation of your booking with the details included. You will get a PDF of your tickets in this email. You can add the booking to your calendar for convenience!
We can accommodate wheelchairs or powered scooters up to:
700mm in width
1200 mm in length (including footplates)
1435mm in height (including occupant)
a maximum weight of 300kg (including occupant)
a turning radius of 900mm.
For safety reasons if your wheelchair/mobility scooter is larger that the above dimensions, we cannot accept it. The wheelchair or scooter may be unable to turn corners on the train.
