Assistant Project Manager – Customer Information Systems (CIS) Network Enhancements

Role Overview
Iarnród Éireann is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager in delivering Customer Information Systems (CIS) projects across the railway network. This includes the roll-out of Station Customer Service Systems (SCSS) and the establishment of a Customer Communications Centre (CCC) at the National Train Control Centre (NTCC). The role involves managing project teams, coordinating contractors, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
General
- Project Coordination: Assist in managing project teams (designers, contractors) to ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery
- CIS Deployment: Oversee the installation of PIDS, PA systems, CCTV, and supporting infrastructure across stations.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Financial Oversight: Support budget management and track project costs to ensure delivery within financial parameters.
- Scheduling: Assist in managing project timelines, ensuring milestones are met and delays minimized.
- Compliance: Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure smooth execution.
- Reporting: Provide regular progress updates and reports to the Project Manager.
- Project Handover: Support the transition of projects from construction to operational handover.

Essential Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Project Management.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project engineering or management.
- Membership with Engineers Ireland or a relevant professional body.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Full driving license
Desirable Requirements
- Railway Experience: Knowledge of railway infrastructure and CIS systems (e.g., PIDS, PA systems, CCTV).
- Project Management: Experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects in infrastructure or transport sectors.
- Contract and Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with CWMF, NEC contracts, and construction regulations.
- Tendering and Procurement: Experience preparing tender documentation and managing procurement processes.
- Funding and Compliance: Experience with funding applications for public sector projects and knowledge of safety andenvironmental regulations.
