An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Supplier Assurance Coordinator within the Chief Mechanical Engineer’s (CME) Department, based in Dublin 8.

The Chief Mechanical Engineer’s (CME) Department operates in a high-compliance, fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands and plays a critical role within the Railway Undertaking business.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the safe and efficient operation of Ireland’s rail network.
About the Role
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with CME-SMS-009 – Supply, Storage and Contract Management of Safety Critical Requirements. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to ensure the conformity of safety-critical parts and equipment supplied to the fleet, while providing expert technical support to engineering, procurement and materials teams.
As a key member of the CME Department, the role holder will play a central role in strengthening supplier assurance and maintaining the highest standards of safety-critical compliance across the fleet.
Key responsibilities
- Lead within CME for compliance against CME-SMS-009 – Supply, Storage and Contract Management of Safety Critical Requirements.
- Manage, own and control all initiatives relating to conformity of supply of safety-critical parts and equipment to the fleet.
- Provide fleet engineering support to the Materials and Stores Department in the identification and supplier conformity of parts.
- Manage technical compliance and conformity verification activities across the supply chain.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in fleet, rolling stock, asset, vehicle, plant or heavy equipment engineering and maintenance, and/or possession of a relevant engineering qualification. Experience within rail or a comparable safety-critical, regulated industry will be considered.
- Knowledge and understanding of industry best practice, technical standards and regulatory frameworks, ideally within the railway sector or a similar highly regulated environment (e.g. transport, aviation, defence, utilities, manufacturing).
- Experience working within Safety, Technical and Quality Management Systems in a safety-critical environment, with practical application of governance, assurance and compliance processes. Experience within railway management systems or comparable structured management systems (e.g. ISO-aligned frameworks) is desirable.
- Lead auditor qualification.
- Strong technical/specialist knowledge.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capability.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficiency in PC applications and SAP.

- Ability to deliver customer requirements efficiently.
- An ability to deal with customers and vendors in a professional manner.

The successful candidate will initially join on a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract.
