Assistant Project Manager (Navan Line) Capital Investment Division – Iarnród Éireann

Iarnród Éireann is seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Project Manager to play a key role in the delivery of the Navan Line project. The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Preliminary Design, Environmental and Engineering Surveys, Preliminary Business Case, and Railway Order Application. You will ensure the effective use of internal and external resources, diligent contract management from tender to completion, and the implementation of Iarnród Éireann and Capital Investments Division standards across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and delivering all phases of the Navan Line Programme.
- Oversee feasibility work, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project handover in your area of responsibility.
- Support effective contract management, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and contractual obligations.
- Monitor budgets, schedules, and risks, providing accurate reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and statutory requirements.
- Participate in project safety reviews, audits, and risk assessments.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Building, Engineering, Construction, or Project Management.
- Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body.
- Minimum of 5 years’ project engineering experience in railways or a similar engineering environment.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and construction contracts.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, numeracy, and IT skills, with knowledge of relevant software tools.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in managing large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects, preferably in a railway environment.
- Knowledge of railway infrastructure, systems, and operations.
- Familiarity with NEC4, CWMF, and Public Works forms of contract.
- Experience managing design consultants and contractors.
- Ability to produce tender documentation
