On receipt of your text, you will be sent an automated message.
This will advise you that:
Your text must relate to anti social behaviour.
If your text relates to a safety incident/emergency, call the Gardaí on 999 or 112.Staff will review the text and deal with the incident. We have set protocols for this. It may involve following up with you.

Alcohol is not permitted on any Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail service. If you bring alcohol on to the train you may be asked to exit the train.
Non-alcoholic drinks, including '0%'or '0.0%' products, are permitted on-board.
Our text service provider is Sendmode. They receive your data. This is only to operate the Text Service.
We may be required to share your details with the Gardaí. This is mainly if you witness criminal activity on our trains or at stations.
We may need to share your details with insurers/legal advisers. This is only as part of claims related to reported incidents.
If we share data, we will follow our Iarnrod Éireann Data Protection Policy.
If you see anti social behaviour on our trains or platforms, please report it through the Text Service.
Anti social behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
Acts that harass, or cause fear/distress
Acts that stop people from using/enjoying their own property or DART/Iarnrod Éireann propertyYou can report a case of:

You can report public drunkenness, vandalism, or abusive behaviour. This is not a complete list. Please report other acts you deem anti social.We do our best to provide safe public transport. Our Text Service is a discreet way to report anti social behaviour. Sometimes it does not work.
If this is the case, and you see anti-social behaviour, please leave the area if you can and contact a staff member. Please put your own safety first.
Legal statement of liability.
When you text TRAIN to 51444, your text message is received by our service provider, Sendmode. It is then passed to designated Iarnród Éireann staff to be dealt with.
This is always subject to any system or network issues or time delays.
The text service works during DART hours.

No. The Text Service is a discreet way to report anti-social behaviour.
Staff/third parties can't see your personal details. Only text service operators will be able to see those.
In line with our GDPR policy, they will not share your details. They may be required to share your details under law if the Gardaí need them.

This depends on the nature of the incident. Iarnród Éireann may be required to share your details with the Gardaí. This is mainly if you are a witness to criminal activity on our trains or at stations.
The Text Service lets you discreetly report anti social behaviour on board a DART or at DART stations. You can report it without inviting attention.

The message rate depends on the user's mobile operator and price plan.
For information on the standard message rates, contact your mobile operator.
A standard text is 155 Characters.
Iarnróid Éireann does not profit from the Text Service.

Use the text service when you see incidents of anti-social behaviour on board a DART or at a DART station that you believe should be reported to improve the overall customer experience.
For safety-related incidents emergencies, always call 999 or 112.

It’s important that you use the keyword 'TRAIN'. The text number 51444 is a Shared Text Service. Using “TRAIN” means that the text is directed to Iarnrod Éireann.
We process personal data so we can track and deal with anti social behaviour. It allows the Text Service to work.

We use the number 51444 as our text number. This number is provided to us by Sendmode. Other services use the 51444 number, meaning it is a 'shared number'. Texts to this number are called 'shared texts'.

By using the keyword “TRAIN” in your text, this marks your text as intended for the Iarnrod Éireann Text Service. It means that your text is directed to us. Specifically to the designated and Iarnrod Éireann Staff teams who will review and act on it.When we receive your text message, an automated message will be sent to you. It will advise you that if your text relates to a safety incident or an emergency, you should call the Gardaí on 999 or 112.

You do not need to wait on the train or at the station after you send the text. We will respond to messages related to anti social behaviour in accordance with our protocols. Please put your own safety first.
The text service is not free because Iarnród Éireann was advised that a free text service may result in hoax or non-genuine texts being received.
The Text Service aims to improve the customer experience. Prank texts would hold us back from doing this.

No. DARTs do not normally stop due to reports of anti-social behaviour.
In emergencies, we use standard protocols to keep people safe. A number of DARTs may stop in this case.

If your request relates to criminal activity please report it to An Garda Síochána. They will liaise with Iarnród Éireann to access CCTV.
