Book online in advance to avail of our lowest web fares. The easiest way to find our best value fares is to use the Journey Planner to plan your trip step by step. Children under 5 do not need a ticket in order to travel, however in order to guarantee a seat it is recommended that a seat only reservation is purchased. For a full list of ticket types and fares for our Dublin Heuston - Cork route, simply follow the guidelines below;         

• Note the letter where your origin and destination stations intersect on the grid eg fare letter Cork to/from Portlaoise = N
• Using that letter check the Tickets and Fares Chart (below) to view the tickets and fares available for that station combination
• The fare grids are not screen reader friendly so anyone using a screen reader please contact us for any fares information you require

Child Fares
Children (aged 5-18) pay half the adult fare. This is up to a maximum of €31. This does not include weekly or monthly season tickets. Children under 5 travel free when with a fare paying adult.

Note 1: Off Peak Promotion
This offer is available after 9:30 a.m. Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday. It applies to travel between Portlaoise and Dublin Heuston, including all stops in between. Dublin Heuston must be your origin or destination.

Note 2: Day Saver
The Day Saver is a day return ticket for travel to Dublin.
You can use it on:

Tuesday to Thursday on the 09:25, 10:25, or 11:25 services.

Saturdays on trains between 06:00 and 11:20.
It is not available on Mondays, Fridays, or Sundays.

Note 3: Student/Young Adult Fares
To get these fares, you must have a Student Leap Card or Young Adult Leap Card. You can show your card as proof of your student status. See our Student/Young Adult section for more.

Add-on for Dublin City Centre
The add-on is included on your ticket at no extra cost. It allows you to travel within Dublin City. It is valid for one trip only.If you travel from Cork Kent, your train arrives at Dublin Heuston. When booking, choose “Connolly” as your destination to include the Luas red line to Connolly. Choose “Dublin” as your destination to include a bus journey to the City Centre.
Return tickets include the same service back to Dublin Heuston on the day your ticket is valid.
