Engineering Opportunities Electrification Department
Location: Inchicore, Dublin 8 and Fairview Dublin 3
Remote Working: Available as per Remote Working policy.
Salary: €47k-€82K (Dependent on role and commensurate with suitable Qualification and Experience)
Contract Hours: 36-hour per week.
Contract Duration: Fixed Purpose and Fixed Term leading to permanency.
Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days per annum, rising to 28 based on service.

Iarnród Eireann, Irish Rail’s Signalling Electrification and Telecoms (SET) Department are looking for skilled professionals to join their Engineering Electrification team. The Electrification section of SET are responsible for the maintenance and renewal of all Traction and OHLE (Overhead line Equipment) assets on the DART railway running from Greystones to Malahide and Howth. Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail is embarking on a record investment programme to make rail the backbone of Ireland’s sustainable transport network. In addition to the on-going maintenance and renewal of Traction and OHLE assets on the DART today, the future DART+ Programme will revolutionise travel in the Greater Dublin Area. It will see the DART network grow from its current 50km in length to over 150km. It will promote multi modal transit, active transport, boost regional connectivity and make public transport the preferred option for more and more people. The DART+ Programme will deliver frequent, modern, electrified services within the Greater Dublin Area (GDA).
Our people are absolutely critical to the delivery of both our services and our future capital programmes. We are in a period of major investment programmes in the maintenance, renewal and upgrading of our infrastructure, as well as the transformation of our fleet. This is an exciting opportunity for engineers with 3 years+ experience to join our ‘One Team’ in Electrification and to help in the safe and efficient provision of electrified railway services.
Essential Requirements
- Engineering Degree Level 8 in the following disciplines Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil or Structural.
Desirable
- Professional experience in 1500V DC Traction Railway systems.
- Professional experience in OHLE Maintenance and Renewals.
- Experience in a railway electrification design office and /or testing and commissioning railway Traction / OHLE schemes.
- Professional experience in OT systems
- Knowledge of the Construction Regulations.
- Experience and understanding of Safety Assurance processes
- Experience in human factors assessments
- CAD / Micro station experience.
