Construction Manager
Role - Construction Manager - Capital Investment Division – Iarnród Éireann
Location – Inchicore
Salary – 3A €105,795.22 - €110,297.11 (3yr scale)
Role and purpose:
Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail is driving a major transformation to enhance Ireland’s rail network, with a nationwide capital investment programme focused on expanding passenger and freight capacity. As part of this, IÉ requires an experienced Construction Manager with a demonstrable track record in the delivery of large multi-functional projects to be undertaken in the Leinster and Munster Regions.
Responsibilities
- Overall construction management and control of all projects from the completion of the design stage through to final construction, on time and within the budget
- Monitoring contractors and consultants for compliance with their contractual responsibilities
- Monitor progress of construction to time, cost, quality and high standards of health and safety
- Chair team meetings, including contractors, consultants and third parties/stakeholders
- Review of contractor operations, assessing both the strengths and weaknesses, implement changes and drive contractor workforce to deliver
- Maintain awareness of project progress and, where required, plan staff mobilisation and demobilisation accordingly
- Maintain awareness of the financial status of projects
- Ensuring that consultants and contractors are being proactive in problem resolution
- Ensure project supervisory staff levels are satisfactory
- Liaise with all parties for site safety
- Monitor and manage risks to successful delivery of projects
- Maintain awareness of current market conditions
- Manage key stakeholder interfaces regarding project delivery, both internal and external
- Manage direct reports.

Essential Requirements
- Engineering degree (Minimum Level 7)
- Minimum 20 years relevant experience
- Commercial awareness across different forms of contract
- Competent at Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Leadership and team building skills
- Minimum of 12 years experience in major project construction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to identify innovative solutions to problems and obtain resolution
Desirable
- A working knowledge of Railway projects
- Understanding of Project Management Procedures
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Coaching and mentoring skills
- Presentation skills
