FourNorth aims to:
Increased capacity, creating space for more trains and more passengers.
More frequent trains with faster services, delivering predictable journeys including at peak hours.
Improved reliability of services, with fewer delays, wait times and disruptions through greater flexibility to keep trains running during incidents and weekend maintenance works
A better journey, with more choice, comfort and improved travel experience on trains and at stations for passengers
Unlock potential for future rail projects identified in the AISRR including an airport rail connection, a DART+ Tunnel and a future M1-aligned rail corridor, while complementing DART+, MetroLink, BusConnects and other upgrades to create an integrated and connected public transport network
Strengthen connectivity along the Dublin-Belfast route, supporting stronger links between the island's two largest cities and the communities in North Dublin, Meath, Louth, Down and Antrim
Connect people to jobs, education, services and housing through improved access, supporting sustainable Transport Orientated Development and enabling economic growth
