- Mallow (Cork) and Athlone Control Centres (LCCO)
- Mallow (Cork), Limerick Area, Maynooth-Dublin trainline, and Waterford area (Gatekeepers)
Salary: LCCO €35k to €55k
Gatekeeper €32k to €45 (Depending on the contract hours & role with yearly increments)
Contract Hours: Average of 40-48 hours per week dependent on the location requirement.
Contract Duration: Fixed Purpose & Fixed Term Contracts
Annual Leave Entitlement: 20 days per annum, rising to 26 based on service.

Iarnród Éireann is building for a future which will see the role of our rail services maximised in meeting the transport needs of the communities we serve, the wider economy and environment. We are seeking applications from suitable applicants to fill a number of Level Crossing Control Operator (LCCO) & Level Crossing Operative (Gatekeeper) roles and join us for this exciting phase of growth within the railway sector
LCCO will be required to carry out rail traffic safety critical tasks to include signalling control, level crossing control and security room operations.
Gatekeepers will be responsible for the safe operation of Level Crossings and associated equipment on Iarnród Éireann’s rail network
Candidates must demonstrate the following attributes:
- Ability to work in a highly regulated environment
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including shift, night work and weekend work.
- Rail experience is desirable as full training will be provided.
Safety Critical assessments, competency-based interview and medical will form part of this selection process.
